Quran module for Drupal

Alhamdulillah, I finally released one of Drupal module: Quran, or Koran. This is my first contribution to Drupal community and my second contribution to free CMS (previously, Mambo).

This module allows you to read Quran (Koran) on Drupal. You can also search for specific verses by keywords. There is also optional block for random verses. The module includes Quran in Arabic, and English for default translation.

Currently we have more than 3 languages: Arabic, English and Indonesian. The other languages are Germany, French, Turk, etc as listed in Zekr Quran project. Please visit http://www.muslimade.com/projects/quran-drupal-module to download them

Thanks for your support. Alhamdulillah, I'm glad that this module is useful to you. Just for your information, this module has just released its new version 1.1 which provides online audio player from Yahoo. But you can still turn this new feature off if you don't like it.

I hope you can do your best too.

If you use the command line mysql client to import your quran sql scripts, make sure you type this

set names utf8;

Followed by

source whatever.sql;

Otherwise the arabic characters will look corrupt on your site.

The official site of Quran for Drupal has been moved to http://dev.hostwaves.com. Later I will change this in the Drupal website.

Hi, This is a great piece thanks.

I recently switched from WindowsXP over to Linux using the Ubuntu Hardy heron distro (and it's great!), and am having trouble that I didn't have before displaying the Arabic characters in the browser. I am not sure of the cause.

I read a chapter in mysql directly with a simple query, and it reads fine. I don't know if it's my PHP that ain't set correctly, or what possible other cause it might be. I also tried to do the "set names utf8" advice but the .mysql file wouldn't import data a second time, saying it already existed.

Got any pointers?
Many thanks
Martin

Martin, I suggest you drop all tables of Quran module. And re import the sql files again using phpmyadmin. That should do.

If you insist to import the sql using shell, may be you should follow the instruction given by Ashraf Amayreh on this comments.

I hope it works!

Martin said...

Thanks Ischan... I dropped the tables, am struggling to set the permissions right so as to get PhpMyadmin working, so took the last option.

Thanks Ashraf Amayreh, the sql commands did the trick.

I found some Quran database files in http://www.qurandownload.com. But, after I checked them using my own script, I found many of them has incomplete verses. For example, Indonesia translation of Al-Ikhlas (chapter 112) misses the last verse (3 out of 4 exists)

I want to say sorry to Martin for mistakenly removing your comment (I don't know how to restore your nice comment).

Alhamdulillah, now the Quran module has many new translations for the Quran including French, Germany, Turk and other languages as listed in Zekr project. Thanks to Zekr.

Unfortunately some languages are failed to parsed to become Quran module translation packages. Because they have invalid format according to my parser.

Just download the parser in http://muslimade.com

Ichsan, thank you very much for a very nice module. The muslim made site seems to be down for a while, are you still keeping this module active? If so a couple of suggestions, on some browsers/computers the line height in the arabic text is too tight and rows run over each other, i tweaked the code but I think this should be a module setting. Also in the block mode the Ayah number on its own looks a little off the title Quarn XX:XX is fine but then the Ayah number on the left immeditately under it looks off.
